Chermond Gymnastics

The Chermond Gymnastics Club was founded in June 1980 by Cherie and Raymond Alcock to pursue their vision of an alternative choice of healthy, safe and constructive activity for children and young people living in Norwich.

Originally offering training in Girls Artistic gymnastics at the Norman Centre in Mile Cross,  a sports Acrobatics section was opened at the Meadowview Community Centre, Hellesdon Low Road in 1981. In 1984 the two sides of the club moved to the Gurney Middle School, Ranworth Road and united under one roof. Once established at Gurney Middle school in 1985 Christina (Chrissie) Cherie & Raymond’s 2nd daughter set up Boys Artistic Gymnastics.

The club enjoyed a long period at the Gurney premises until 2003, even though the school was closed down in the late 1980s, but were evicted from the Gurney premises in 2003.

2012 Chermond moved into their very own premises 10 Delta Close.

In 2015 Chrissie set up TPF-Parkour alongside her boy’s gymnastics to help keep boys engaged in a sport once they hit teens, In 2017 TPF-Parkour and Chermond Artistic Gymnastics moved over to Aylsham Way where we currently train and are looking into setting Acro Gymnastics back up.
